The story
Built in the fourth century BCE, the theatre formed part of the sanctuary’s religious and cultural life. Its carefully arranged seating and setting remain among the most celebrated examples of ancient Greek theatre design.
The sanctuary combined ritual, rest and treatment. Modern performances returned after conservation work, giving this ancient gathering place a continuing cultural life.
