The Bayeux Tapestry Is Completed
Bayeux · France · Cultural · Medieval World
The story
Wool thread on linen, stitched by anonymous hands, its fifty scenes follow Harold and William from oath to Hastings, with borders full of animals, ships and daily life.
Part chronicle, part propaganda, part comic strip, it is one of the great surviving artefacts of medieval Europe.
